Officer Miller turned to his partner and pulled out his heavy steel handcuffs. “Chloe Vance, you are under arrest for filing a false police report, identity theft, unauthorized access to a computer system, and attempted grand larceny.”
As the officers pulled Chloe to her feet and led her down the stairs in tears, I walked out onto the balcony overlooking the grand living room. The crowd of thirty partygoers looked up at me in absolute terror.
“The party is over,” I announced, my voice echoing across the high ceilings. “If every single one of you is not off my property in sixty seconds, the officers outside will arrest you all for trespassing.”
Within thirty seconds, my house was dead silent. I walked over to my desk, canceled the fraudulent wire transfer, and locked down my servers. For the first time in six months, my home was finally quiet.
Chloe thought she could play a game of chess with my life, but she forgot one fundamental truth: I built my entire career on noticing the smallest discrepancies in the numbers.
