I had routed the wallet decryption key to the FBI’s cyber crimes division twenty minutes before stepping into the cabin, giving them the exact location of both the syndicate’s core assets and their top enforcers. The men looked at each other in absolute panic as tactical team boots thundered onto the front porch. Within thirty seconds, flashbangs went off, the room filled with smoke, and the enforcers were pinned to the floor in handcuffs.
Chloe wept hysterically as federal agents placed her in restraints alongside the men she had tried to double-cross. As they dragged her past me, she looked up with desperate, pleading eyes. “Marcus, please! Don’t let them take me! Tell them I’m your sister!”
I looked down at her, feeling no anger anymore—only a profound, quiet sadness for the sister I lost six years ago. “My sister died the night she put that bag in my backpack,” I said softly.
Saturday came, bright and clear. Standing at the end of the aisle in a sunlit garden, I watched Sarah walk toward me in her white dress, her smile radiating warmth and safety. My parents sat quietly in the back row, having earned a tentative, distant invitation after truthful confessions were made to the authorities. They knew things would never fully be the same, but the truth was finally out in the light.
As Sarah reached my side and took my hands, I let out a breath I felt like I had been holding for six years. The nightmare was over, the shadows were gone, and my real life was finally beginning.
