Daniel’s expression hardened.
«Mother, stop.»
Victoria stared at him.
«Daniel?»
He took a deep breath.
«I saw the security footage.»
Victoria’s face changed.
Richard nodded toward the screen.
The hotel’s security recording began playing.
It showed Emily entering the lobby.
It showed Victoria approaching her.

Richard nodded.

Victoria began crying.

Emily spoke for the first time.
«A mistake?»
Victoria turned toward her.
Emily’s voice trembled.
«You humiliated me in front of strangers. You accused me of trying to steal money. You told me my daughter wasn’t welcome.»
Tears rolled down her cheeks.
«And then you hit me.»
Victoria looked away.
Emily continued.
«I came here because I wanted my daughter to know her father.»
Daniel took her hand.
«And you stole eight months of our lives,» he added.
Victoria shook her head.
«I was only trying to protect you.»
Daniel stared at her.
«From what?»
Victoria remained silent.
«From the woman I love? From my own daughter?»
He paused.
«You didn’t protect me. You controlled me.»
Richard looked toward the directors.
«Given the documented incident and the concerns raised about Mrs. Whitmore’s conduct, I propose her immediate suspension from executive duties pending an independent investigation.»
The directors reviewed the motion.
After a formal vote, Victoria was suspended.
An independent committee was appointed to investigate the incident and the alleged interference in Daniel’s communications.
Victoria stared at the table.
For the first time in decades, she had lost control.
But Richard wasn’t finished.
He turned toward Emily.
«Sweetheart, there’s something I want you to understand.»
Emily looked at him.

She nodded.

The hotel also reached a settlement with Emily over the assault and the failure of staff to intervene.
