Troy Maddox stood with his hands in his pockets, hesitating.

He had come to speak at a district assembly about accountability.

He had not expected anyone to look at him.

Leo met his eyes.

For a moment, neither moved.

Then Leo lifted one hand in a small, deliberate wave.

Troy blinked, startled.

Slowly, he nodded back.

And Leo returned to his pizza.

The cafeteria hummed around him, loud and warm and ordinary.

A place where no one had to be afraid.

He adjusted his glasses and looked at the faces around the table.

Somewhere in the distance, a bell rang.

Leo Bennett had never wanted to be a hero.

He had only wanted to sit at a quiet corner table and eat his lunch in peace.

But he had learned something his father had always known.

Peace isn’t something you find by staying silent.

It’s something you build, one honest word at a time, until the whole world can finally see clearly.
