Chapter 7 – The Financial Threat
The entire patio erupted into absolute, chaotic gasps.
No one spoke. The silence was only broken by the soft, squishing sound of ruined cake sliding off Sabina’s expensive clothes and hitting the grass.
For ten agonizing seconds, Sabina lay stunned in the dirt. She slowly pushed herself upright, her hands covered in thick, sticky white frosting. Her perfectly curated, terrifying high-society image was completely, totally annihilated. She looked like a ridiculous, pathetic clown.
She was trembling violently, not from fear, but from sheer, unadulterated humiliation. Her wealthy country club friends were staring at her in absolute shock, witnessing the untouchable matriarch destroyed by dessert.
Sabina looked up at her son, her eyes burning with a psychotic, venomous hatred. She wiped a glob of cake from her eyes, fully prepared to destroy his entire life. She believed she still held the ultimate trump card: the family fortune.
“You are dead to me!” Sabina shrieked, her venomous voice cracking as she struggled to stand up in her ruined heels. She pointed a frosting-covered finger directly at Callan and Jessamine. “Both of you! Get off my property! I am freezing your accounts right now! Walk out and lose every dollar! You will rot in the streets, and I will take that child!”
She expected Callan to drop to his knees and beg for forgiveness. She expected him to grovel for his inheritance.
Instead, Callan remained perfectly, terrifyingly still. He looked down at his mother with an expression of profound, absolute emptiness.
“You don’t have any dollars to freeze, Mom,” Callan stated in a quiet, completely steady voice.

He reached into the inner pocket of his button-down shirt.
Chapter 8 – The Envelope Dropped
Moving with slow, deliberate precision, Callan removed the thick, sealed manila envelope he had found in his father’s hidden safe earlier that morning.
The heavy red wax seal bearing his father’s distinct crest gleamed in the bright sunlight.
Callan walked slowly toward his mother, his polished shoes stopping right at the edge of the ruined, frosting-covered grass. He didn’t hand the envelope to her. He held it out and simply dropped it.
The heavy envelope landed directly into the ruined, smashed cake resting on the grass right beside Sabina’s knees.
“Dad left me something much better,” Callan delivered in a cold, absolute tone that echoed with the unwavering authority of the new patriarch.
Sabina stared at the envelope resting in the frosting. Her venomous anger faltered for a fraction of a second as she recognized her late husband’s personal, highly secure legal seal.
“What… what is this?” Sabina stammered, her voice suddenly losing its terrifying edge. She hesitantly reached out with her sticky hands, picking up the envelope and breaking the wax seal.
She pulled out the thick stack of heavily notarized legal documents.
“It’s the real master trust agreement,” Callan explained loudly, ensuring every single wealthy guest on the patio heard the truth. “Dad knew exactly who you were, Mom. He knew you would try to use his money to control me, and he knew you would despise whoever I married.”
Sabina’s eyes darted frantically across the complex legal jargon printed on the pages. As she read the specific clauses, the color completely, totally drained from her face, leaving her looking sickly and pale beneath the smeared white frosting.
“No…” Sabina whispered in absolute horror, her hands shaking so violently she could barely hold the paper. “This… this is a forgery. My lawyers told me I had full control of the estate until you turned forty!”

“Your lawyers lied to you,” Callan replied smoothly, delivering the final, devastating blow.
